It's what you do that counts...

We all know someone who has passed away suddenly due to the violence in our neighborhood. Our Science Fair Project is geared toward those who have passed away, and to also raise awareness of a need to stop the violence around us (See blog entry "This is for the neighborhood"). Some were innocents, and other were part of the problem. But what about the ones that died and was part of the violence, should they be honored, too?

So, what do you think? Should we gear our project towards the innocents, the ones not involved in the violence or to everyone, regardless of the background of the indivdual that was killed? Is there another way of addressing this problem?

Those who don't appreciate life do not deserve life. People's lives are taken away everyday from violence or in another way. What people do to honor them is a tribute. When making a tribute to those who died who should be honored? Should we honor a rapist or a murder who died from violence. No, we have to choose carefully of who to put on the tribute.

Wow so many people dieing just from violence. People killing each other. Some also mistaking a person for the one they think it is. Instead of shooting people they should talk about the problem. I know people will not talk about it, but it is better than killing people in the world. People killing each other making this world bad.

I think that we should honor all of the people. Even if they are involved in the problem. Just do to the fact that people had died. The reason why people die is no reason unless they are to old. That's why I think we should honor them. That's why i think we should do that.

i think that is a great idea that we should focus our project on the innocent because they was not involved in the violence i think this project will go good

i think that the people that die should be recognized. They should be recognized because people should have a name for themselves and should be known.

I am not sure what to really say about this blog today. I do think people that are involved in the violence should be honored. No body doesn't deserve not to be honored no matter what they have done. I sure would like to be honored in some way i don't really care. I do agree that we should gear to take advantage of this project. This is a good way so I do believe that we should address that problem in this way.

I agree with Richard. It really dont matter about there background. They are people who died. They should be honored too.

Anonymous said...

i agree with anyone who said that the innocent should be honor because they didn't do anything.

I believe that this memorial should be for everybody. I understand that the people that created the problem made a bad decision but they should be remember to. Is very unfair only to have a memorial for innocent people, it should be available for everybody that pass away. Everybody that pass away should be honor and remember in our minds. Also it can influence other people to make the right decisions and not to lead the negative path.

There is always a different way to solving problems. Violence is not how you solve things. Our communities are the way they are because people don't look at other ways they can fix their problems. People killing each other makes it worse on everybody around them because once you have killed one person that persons family is going to want to seek revenge. The cycle goes on.

Everyone who dies deserves the right to be acknowledged. Therefore, our project should gear on everyone who dies. It doesn't matter if the person who died is innocent or not. Everyone deserves to rest in peace and they will be able to do so is they are acknowledged.

I understand what billy joe has to say. Just i think you should have life regardless. Just because there is a fact that we have the life. so i think we should have life just if you want it then have it just if you don't want to have it it's on you.

Anonymous said...

I agree with what richard said because I believe that everybody should be remembered even if they made negative decisions.

This project will be good. This is a good thing to do in the neighborhood. It will be good to reconize the innocent ones that died. They will get know as the person they were. They should not be honored because they was part of the problem. They do not deserve to. We are going to have a science fair project.

well, this is an very hard decision.Sometimes people die of doing good or bad.Should the bad get honored even if they were part of the cause and died? I dont know. I think they should still get honored. The reason why I said this is because the punishment couldve been A little simpler. yes they were wrong for violence and doing the bad things that happened but i think everyone deserves a second chance. turning around and making a difference is important. There family didnt deserve it but the people they puts life in jeopardy also didnt deserve it.I dont know an idea we could do. Making an sign or having an day where we can say something would be helpful.there are always consequences to our actions. Think who will be hurt when you do something. we all have ideas on what violence causes. ANd what to do to make a difference.

My perspective is that its a good idea that we are making a memorial as a project.Even thought person was not a victim when he died he still deserves to have a memorial. Everyone should have a chance get a memorial because everyone is important int the world.

I agree with Richard. I understand where he was coming from. I wrote something quite similar to his. Richard talked about honoring people no matter if they were in violence. I really would consider jumping on this project. For the sake of the community. And everyone who lost there life.

I with agree mercedes because it makes a lot of sense.

I agree with Richard we should honor all of the people.

i have to agree with richard and stacey.I think that the fact that someone died should be honored.Even if they have been a cause of trouble, Everyone deserves a second chance. The fact that someones lifes at risk, should be admired no matter what.

Anonymous said...

i think that we should honor everyone. im pretty sure that the person that killed was not worth getting killed over. i mean just because they was part of a gang or because they got into a arument or a fight that is worth someones life getting lost. i think that everyone should be honered.

Honestly yes i do think that everyone should be apart of our science fair. No matter if they were apart of the problem or not, they should still be recognized. In my opinion if we do this violence and neighborhood project , we should present it to the community. Like resent the project to the academy about the 8th grade progress due to the death and violence done in our community. So there for, everyone should be honored in their own way.

Anonymous said...

I agree with those who said that everyone should be honored because its worth it. No matter if they were part of the problem or not, they must of done something good in life. Don't just look at the things done in the present. No one is entirely bad, at some point they have done a good deed in life. Everyone makes mistakes and theres nothing wrong with that unless they notice it and is willing to improve the mistake.

It's really sad how so many YOUNG people die. There's more of teens dying. Violence is a still alive. I think Violence needs to die. Even though I believe it might not die. i like that our Science Fair Project is going to e towards those who have passed away. Even though many that have died and passed from the streets that many teens knew or know, but I know family members who have passed. I also feel like people who have passed away and my friends knew them I feel like they we're my friends who died. I'm truly not sure if we should honor those who were part of a problem thats a reason for them passing. We should honor all those who have died regardless though now that I think. We should gear our Science Project on innocent and everyone who died regardless of the background of the individual that was killed.

Things happen for a certain reason in life. Our project is suppose to relate to people who have been involved in violence and those who were in the violence is a major in flence. That's why they should be the main ones talk about in our project to help people learn about the effects violence have had on some peoples life and what the out come was. I believe by doing this people will realize that the violence in Dorchester is not worth it instead we should all come together and try to make a difference in our community. What people do to honor is tribute and that's the best way we can solve the violence in our community by tributing our project to the community with high hopes to make a difference.

Every one deserves a life filled with joy. I feel that whether you are good or bad you should be recognized. Everyone should be honored for the things they did for the world. Maybe it was lack of attention that led the person into killing. maybe the person who committed the crime did it accidentally. I think everyone should be forgiven for anything bad that they did. Even murder i think should be forgiven because they deserve a second chance in the other world that is waiting. so yes i feel like the people who committed the crime should be honored too because they were part of the crime that took place.

Anonymous said...

I really concur with billyjoe people who don't appreciate life don't deserve life. everyday someone dies everyday. when making a tribute to those who died you show you have value for life. and everyone should be honored

Anonymous said...

I think people should honor people who died from violence and chose them wisely and make sure you don't chose a person who did murder or rape.

I live by the motto live for today because tomorrow is not promised. I feel this way about life because so many people have lost their live in our neighborhood. So far i have lost a total of 5 love ones, and three of them died to violence in our community. This not only effect me but the other people in my family. We go on day after day realizing that those who have past no longer walk on this earth. They were put in a casket for what? No reason what so ever. This make no sense and sometime it make me want to cry.Rest in Peace to those we have lost.....remember you are never gone and you will ive on in our live.

Anonymous said...

I strongly agree with what billy joe said because we should not honor those who was murders or a rapist, but it would'nt be fair. This is being said because we should'nt just look at the negative side ,but positive as what they use to do or be before they commited the crime they did as well.

Anonymous said...

It is OK. "We all know someone who has passed away suddenly due to the violence in our neighborhood". why so our can take avenge over. sometime it is good for you and other. I think it make sense.that is all.

Anonymous said...

I agree with billy comment about chosing the right person to tribute or honor a person who got kill in a violence instead of honoring a murderer or a rapist.

I feel that everyone should be notice for losing their life. No one should lose their life through violence. It's no right to the person or their family. Violence is not the way to always solve a problem, but that id people's way of doing it now of day's. Everyone should be recognize if their life was taken for a useless reason. Even if they did have parts in what took place. It will only be right!!!

Anonymous said...

They should put everyone up regardless of their background. Why should we be able to judge who gets honored or who dosent. They could have been doing something violent to save someone elses life. But the first mistake we are making is that we our killing each other. People should just be honored because they are killed in the first place.

Anonymous said...

I think that they should a least be honored no matter what. I say this for many reasons. One reason is because no matter what they are still people. Another reason is because they stilled died from violence. Plus another reason is because everybody are the same no matter what. These are reasons why I think this because I know people who were my family and just people I know died from violence and they wasn't honored.

Anonymous said...

I think we should gear our project towards the innocents. We should because some people forget the people who have died. We need to refresh peoples mind. People forget about the people who have past. Lets remind them.lets tribute them.

Anonymous said...

No one wants someone in their life to be gone forever. Regardless if someone is involve in a violent criminal, they should be honored for their present. I know that if my cousin or brother was involved in a criminal, I would want them to be honored and show their soft side.

Anonymous said...

people that was part of the violence don't deserve to be honored. for what they are the one who's in the problem. the people who was killed when there not part of the problem they should be honored. the innocent people not the violent people.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Stacey because people do mistake people for the wrong person.I am not mad for the people who are paranoid. People should talk because it is better than bullets and blood.Words will not kill you.

Anonymous said...

I agree with everybody who said we show honor them and/or tribute them regardless of their background.

Anonymous said...

Some people in the world do not see the world like we do. I think that the people who do not appreciate life still should deserve life. everybody deserves life in any case. Every body should be honored, except the killers.
I think that the people who died are most important. It is important to honor them.

Anonymous said...

You should forget the bad and remember the good.I think the people who were part of the crime should be honored .Even though they did bad things in the past.Dose not mean you should forget the good that they did.I think people should be treated the same.

Anonymous said...

I kind of agree with billy. He said that some people do not deserve life. That is kind of true but, everybody deserve life. we should not honor rapist or killers? That is not right to do and it does not make sense. Billy's statements makes a lot of sense.

Anonymous said...

I agree with everybody.the reason why is because everybody has there own opinions.Nobody's right or wrong.

Anonymous said...

people all over the the world pass away suddenly due to violence. Our neighborhoods are full of violence. Sometimes even if your not apart of the problem your going to get in it some how. I think we should honor every one. the reason why is that they all died and the use to be innocent. There backgrounds are in the past now. this might be a good project.

Anonymous said...

the idea sounds really cool

Anonymous said...

THINK THAT IN THE NEIBORHOOD IS DANGEROUS.BUT I THINK THAT PEOPLE NEED TO PROJECT THERE SELF.BUT IN A SAFE WAY.I AGREE WITH BILLY BECAUSE I AGREE WITH THE STATEMENT"WHAT PEOPLE DO TO HONOR THEM IS A TRIBUTE.

Anonymous said...

I think that that is a good idea is because people who lose lives where taken away.So it makes since to make your neighborhood better. Better than it really was cause there are a lot of violence. That is what i think.

Everybody dies sooner or later and deserves to have some type or service at there funeral that is worth something they also should be remembered and respected after their death. I believe that we should honor people who was evolved with violence. This is why I think they all should be honored.

Anonymous said...

i agree with Stacey comment. In she say instead of shooting people they should talk about the problem.

Anonymous said...

I also agree with Billy because he said those who don't appreciate life don't deserve life. I think that is completely true.

I believe that we should honor the innocent lives that were lost in violent tragedies. These lives were taken away with out a chance to grow and become the beautiful individuals they could have been. These killings are sensless and undeserving. We need to be mindful of who we honor, these innocent lives that were lost deserve to be remembered in a special way.

I agree with Marsha because she an extremley good point when she said "These lives were taken away with out a chance to grow and become the beautiful individuals they could have been." I definatley agree with that. (Great point Marsha)
