Green Peace
A recent scientific study is stating that in urban areas where the presence of "greenspaces" (like parks, playgrounds, fields, etc) is lacking; there are more cases of violent crimes, poverty, and a overall "bad mood" of the people living in these areas. These experts say that with more "greenspaces" available, statistics like crime and vandalism will decrease. What do you think? Do you think planting trees around neighborhoods in Boston can help, or hurt?

I think that it is good but it also can be bad. I think it its good to have more trees because we can get more oxygen. I also think it is a bad thing because people can lie get in to accidents. I says that they can get into accidents because people will not now that there are more trees around and will drive into them. Well thats all if your drunk. But over all i think it will be for the better to have more trees in some areas.
It doesn't matter if trees are there or not. it doesn't change anything. What does trees have to do with violence in the community.
How does planting a tree decrease crimes and violence? "Wow look at this new park, let me just put my knife down and enjoy the park". If thats what these scientist think is going to happen then they have a better chance of finding the WMD. Most of these people don't even spend their time in parks, they spend time at their streets or some center. A tree or a park isn't going to change the fact that people care more about repping their street or protecting it than having a good time at a new park.
A TREE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WAY PEOPLE FEEL ABOUT OTHERS. A TREE CAN NOT SAVE SOMEONES LIFE. IF SOMEONE WANTED TO KILL SOMEONE, THEY WONT CHANGE THERE MIND BECAUSE THEY SEE A TREE. BY THAT BEING SAID, I BELIEVE A TREE A NO EFFECT ON THE COMMUNITY.
well this is a very interesting fact or theory. I believe that with all of those trees that is there. I don't think tree will stop someone getting shoot or even stabbed. Then with all of the trees there just going to get cut down anyway.
I think it does not matter if trees will cover these places. The trees do not have nothing to do with these situations. It would not help anyways because the trees will not stop people from stabbing another person. The trees are still and it cant stop a bullet in another direction from the trees so i think the trees would not help. It has no effect on the community.

i don't understand how planting a tree will help Boston. maybe if we try to stop worrying about the areas around us and worry about the angry people. if i could help i would but i just don't know what exactly to do.
i agree with every one because trees cant stop violene at all. Even though trees will give us more oxygen it still will not stop the violence
If they really want to help Boston they need to help us with the economy. Boston needs the money to create some thing to distract kids in Boston, because if anyone needs to be distracted its Boston. We waste money planting trees where we could of use it to keep teens from killing by making a center, then yeah scientist know how to deal with violent crimes.
Planting trees could hurt in many ways. For example, there's a lot more places to hide to commit a crime.
I agree with Ashley because it doesn't make a difference if more trees are in Boston or not.
I think that the article is talking about making a difference in environment.By making more parks and other places so that you can get all of the teens and others on the streets.
To be honest i feel that the more green spaces there are in urban areas the more violence there is going to be. That just means there are more places for gangs to hang out and that might possibly put more teens around those places in danger.

I think that it would be a good idea to plant trees around in Boston to help our environment with oxygen.On the other side people will get more bored because the community will look empty with all the trees and would Agravate people even more.
Planting tree's around the greenspaces areas will not help the violence in Boston. Those spaces maybe spaces for people to comet crimes and drop bodies. However putting the tree's up won't help the situation. People will just find other places to comet a crime or drop a body. For example back or side alleys, in the open, privet places,etc. basically i disagree with the whole conception.

we should have more trees in the world because it gives out more oxygen.And it's the law of mother nature.and the trees are the ones that make the world look green.
I kind of agree with what j@lyn is saying because violence is a natural thing it's not cause by trees in the community.
i dis agree with this the violence is not going to stop because of some trees that will proboly just make more danjourse because people might get hurt for taking walks throught the park also then a gang might get formed out of the park
Nothings gonna happen since its just trees in different places.So planting trees to fill in the greenspace is not going to hurt good space that should and could be used by anyone.So by putting more trees in different areas is a better chance of a better way to breathe.Since there will b more oxygen to breathe in and out . So no it wont hurt anyone or from what i know

I feel that it will hurt because a crime can be committed and the person who is committing the crime will have a 50\50 chance of not getting caught.On the other hand more trees can help give more oxygen to us.
I agree with all the people that says that it isn't going to change anything with more green places because that just create more diversions for violence to take place and it is putting more people in danger that comes to those green spaces.
I think that is a lie because that the more people"teens" stay out side at a wrong time many of these teens wouldn't be getting shot over stupid things that don't have to do with them.Also i think that the parents is te ones tat is being strict about they kids smoking weed having sex at a young age. If teens stay in school they would have a good well mind set for college and school. i think BOSTON POLICE will be smart enough to walk the streets more often the these youngsters wouldn't be out side and it not oly the boys it also those young girls thinking they are cut running the streets when they parents should be putting they foot up they TAILS.
I think that its good for more oxygen and helping the environmental for the animals and the plants. Its also a bad thing because it could be easier for criminal to hide behind and to kidnap, rape, or killing. it some times happen when like them so much.

I believe by putting more plants in the neighbor hood. Crimes will be reduce. I believe by putting more plants around the neighbor hood. Every body will be in a happier mood.

i think it is good idea & a bad one because the gang members can make the trees in to crack. and it can make more oxygen in the air for us to breath much better. but it still would not make a difference there is still going to be violence.

I think that trees are more helpful to decrease crime.I think this because people will see more nature. They will stop and see that Boston is more alive.By that i saying that will see the good side. They will change their mind a little.I think it can increase and decrease at the same.

Trees can bring the good out of someone if they have it into them. If the shooter has no good in them, well trees can't do nothing about it. Trees mean peace and that what the are made to bring, but once they pull-up and start shooting, its on.
I HATE TREES! Trees take up to much room in the neighborhood. I am glad when trees are cut down. I know that they are suppose to give off oxygen but I still don't like them. I think that with all of the smoking that goes on around the city, the trees are somewhat helping with the pollution. This is what I think about planting trees in the Neighborhood.
Every one that said that trees don't have to do anything with shootings they are right. Putting more trees will not stop violence at all. There will still be shootings and killing as well. Trees don't have to do any thing with violence...

having parks and stuff will not do anything. Crimes will still go on because all your doing is making a place look better for crimes to start.Planting trees and building parks is only making everything worse.

There can be mountains of trees and as many parks you may want to put but if there is no control no no demand and no change of the people,not the law then then there will gradually be able to gradually see a change
I feel that lands are very important in many ways. In some ways I do think that lands should be man made because what ever was planted is more fresh. Also, I believe womens should have the same chance and help out with lands.
I think the trees will help the because trees breath in carbon dioxcide and breath out oxygen.This will help out the enviorment it will not help out the violence. Because people will still kill if there is trees around. Tress will only help the person get away from the police. So from my opion the trees will only help out the enviorment.
