A large amount of pharmaceuticals (prescription drugs) including antibiotics, mood stabilizers, and sex hormones have been found in 41 million American drinking water supplies. Where you may ask, from YOU!!!! After you take a pill for a headache, muscle pain, depression, ADD, etc, the "leftover" meds are flushed out of your body (via a #1 or #2). Some of that water is treated to be consumed by us as "tap water." In the current small doses present in the water supplies there are no immediate threats to humans, but during a long time period that might be a different story. Already there has been an impact to wildlife, like instances where male fish becoming "feminized" carrying yolk proteins, a process only seen in female fish. These effects, over time and with consistent exposure, can transfer to humans, too.
So...what do you think? Is this a big enough problem, where the residue (leftovers) of prescription drugs are present in our drinking water supply, for the general public to be aware of? Or would it be simple "overreacting" and would cause alot of unnecessary worrying for the people?

Prescription drugs being bad for people now. This is a problem. Why? Well because it can harm the people. If it is in our tap water, most people drink it. We people can have the same as the fish do. They should change what there is in the prescription drugs. It is not only affecting people but also animals as well. It goes to the animals by our waste. This is a big problem for us all.

What explains the problem people are getting from drinking water? During the past few years people have been drinking chugging down water for years and scientist have proved we been drinking too much water. They say we pissed nutrients away. Have they explained it, no. And this new founding could explain that. Depression,ADD, you don't think thats a problem if drinking water is fulled with it then you need ADD.
My perspective is that this would be a huge problem because what if someone was allergic to pills. No matter what it still a danger. It could cause death.

I believe that this is a very important issue. Just I don't think we should be worried about this. I think it's just a bad thing. The fact that male fishes have the same things as female fishes. So that's why i think we should do something else with are #1 and #2. So we don't have to worried about humans getting that. So i hope we can stop that but it's not nothing very important.

i agree with Edgar i think that water is important. I feel that we treat water badly. When we need water to live so why treat it bad. Then people throw trash in the water. Then that make other people stay from the water.
There are many problems going on in the U.S today. A big problem going on is the residue of prescription drugs. According to the article "It's in the water" the residue of prescription drugs caused a male fish to become "feminized". This may soon happen to humans as well. I believe that this is a very big concern for everyone in the U.S. Everyone should be aware of this problem. Whoever is not concerned should think twice. They may be putting their life in danger.

I believe that they shouldn't have put other stuff inside the medicine. I believe its wrong. And people don't even know. The other stuff they put in prescriptions is called leftovers as used in the article. People begins to worry about whats really in their medicine. I would be upset if someone did that to my prescriptions.

Water is a very essential drink for everybody. Water is one or is the healthiest drink, and I do not think it should be drugged or effected in any way. Water should be cleaned more often. Female fishes, can be so effected that maybe they can stop having eggs. Also, male fishes can actually convert into a female fish by time. For humans, it can hurt our human body, and I believe that the water should be clean. Is not fair that by drinking water, our human body get affected.

This problem is big enough. I say that because knowing about these changes toward wildlife male fishes is kind of weird. It is because how do you go from a female fish producing eggs to a male. So then it's just like the article stated, the fish would become "feminized". If that is true then yes it would be a real problem knowing that what happened to the fish may happen to male humans.

Well I have to disagree with cassie because yes it is a big deal with both the fishes and human,but it is a big deal to over react because the general is not taking action or doing any thing about the issue.

Water is something that people depend to live off in the avarage persons daily. And it's a shame that now a dasys you can't even get good, clean, fresh water without some kind of problem. Thats nasty have to drink water that is being re-used. We are drink our own urine. Thats real nasty we are drinking basicly poison. Then we take the number 2 that come out watery. Well now I know that I'm not drinking water again. Unless there's a purerafier.
